Congenital absence of vagina is rather rare anomaly. Many ingenious procedure have been devised for it’s correction. None has been universally accepted till now. Most appropriate procedure is the simplist, least dangerous one which will give good results in the indivisual patient.
Rather than using the same procedure in each patient, it is better to choose the one, which is fitted to each patient’s physical and psycological condition.
Mcindoe procedure has been performed world-widely because of it’s simplicity, low mortality and high degree of physiologic success.
Authors analized clinically 10 cases of congeital absence of vagina patient who received McIndoe procedure during the period from 1964 to 1978.
The following results were obtained.
1. Mostly, chief complaints were amenorrhea.
2. In 4 case(33%), vaginal dimple was observed among 12 cases.
3. In all 11 patients, hormonal study showed normal range and chromosomal study was 46 XX Karyotype.
4. An intravenous pyelogram was performed in 11 patiynts, 2 of them presented malformation of the urinary tract(18%).
5. Post operative complication was noted in 2 patients(20%), one showed mild ulceration of the introitus and the other was urethro-vaginal fistula.
6. 4 case of the patients(40%) has a 100% take of the graft, and the other 6 case (60%) had above 80% take fo the graft.
7. 4 cases among 7 patiets(57%) were sexually active, and none had expierenced dyspareunia.
